Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. is a revue-style musical that brings the iconic educational songs of Schoolhouse Rock! to life on stage through an engaging story about a young teacher’s journey into confidence and imagination.
Tom, a first-time schoolteacher, is nervous about his very first day in the classroom. Trying to calm his nerves at home, he turns on the TV — and the familiar Schoolhouse Rock! program seems to leap out of the screen! Characters from the classic educational cartoons — each representing different parts of his personality — come alive to teach him important lessons about grammar, math, history, science, and civics.
As Tom interacts with songs like “A Noun Is a Person, Place or Thing,” “Just a Bill,” “Conjunction Junction,” and “Interplanet Janet,” he slowly sheds his anxiety, realizes that learning can be fun, and gains the confidence to inspire his own students. The show blends timeless, catchy songs with theatrical storytelling to make education entertaining for performers and audiences alike.
